Sunday in New York

If you know us, you know that a play has dictated our family life for the past two months.  Thanks to a schedule change, Robert was able to audition for his second play with The Summit Players back in March for Sunday in New York.  We have been down this road before when he was in Moby Dick, when I was 8 months pregnant with Colin.  He was fortunate to be cast as the male lead, and while fun, it is time consuming.

For those who do not know, Robert is very driven when it comes to the current project he is working on.  If it peaks his interest, you can bet that it will receive all of his attention until it is done.  Speaking as the wife, this can be good and bad-- it depends on what the object of his affection is at the moment.

The play wrapped after it's two weekend run this past weekend on Mother's Day, and he is already itching to work on another one.  It was a wonderful play with an incredible cast.  I made it to three shows and loved watching the way their performances developed.  It was a great joy to see the play with friends and family, including Rob's mom and her best friend from Orlando, friends of ours from Orlando (Andi and Justin Scruton-- see picture), and my mom and step-dad from South Carolina.  I highly encourage those of you who are local to check out The Summit Players website to stay up to date on all their summer workshops and camps, as well as auditions, and upcoming plays.

Little boys and daisies?

Summer is on the horizon.  We are winding down with the spring and making summer plans.  There is a daisy field at an exit a long the highway a couple miles from us.  I know it is about time for the town to start mowing, so I took the boys yesterday to get some pictures.  I took Davis and Colin in the morning, and Ethan right before dinner.  Here are a few of the ones I got (completely unedited).  It is amazing to see the beauty we pass every day and never take the time to notice!

Ah, sweet summertime!

We are in the dead of summer and it is hot, and the kids are restless.  Ethan just finished a week of Fine Arts Camp at the local private college.  He went last year and loved it, this year was no different.  We are hoping to have both Ethan and Davis there next year.  He has also done Messy Munchkins at the church the boys go to preschool at, and library storytime (which both Davis and Colin have done too).  I never thought I would be the parent sending my kids to any type of camp I could, but the fact is that they love doing it.  We have a week of Vacation Bible School at the beginning of August and then I suppose we will be gearing up for school again.

These past two days we have had a break from the heat and humidity with temperatures not getting beyond the sixties really and it has helped me mentally prepare for fall.  I know another heat wave is on the horizon and we will be miserable again, but it is nice to know that right around the corner is schedules, new pencils, pointy crayons, and scarecrows.
